Connor Gillen
YOUTH COACH | Brown Belt
Connor obtained his brown belt in 2022. He specializes in gi jiu-jitsu and has more than 7+ years instructing youth jiu-jitsu, with helping the youth develop self confidence, discipline, and strong work ethic.
Early beginnings:
Connor’s journey did not start with grappling, he was in love with the water and pursued swim team in high school, and even went to state in the butterfly. He even grew up teaching swim lessons and coaching swimming during high school for the City of Omaha and Ralston High School. Coaching and developing the youth has always been one of Connor’s passions.
After high school Connor went into his first MMA school and attended jiu-jitsu classes for the first time. He was taken down by someone half his size (a normal 180lbs male) which scared him but also sparked his curiosity. This led Connor to specifically train jiu-jitsu where he has competed and won several local tournaments. Connor believes in training should include discipline along with fun where athletes can socialize while gaining knowledge.
Personal:
Outside of Lokahi, you can find Connor enjoying his time working and learning from his dad on his family’s trade, painting homes and being a handy man, along with working with his cousin as well. For activities you will find him at Cunningham lake throwing a disc around playing disc golf.
